Artist and songwriter Shanuka has had an affinity for music, a source of expression where she can release both her masculine and feminine nature. As a teenager in Scarborough, ON, she spent most nights inside writing and recording her own music alone in her room “writing music was an outlet for me” she says. Years later she has performed at multiple venues around Toronto, once opening for Shay Lia. Her song “Tides” has been picked up by clothing retailer Zara and her recent single “Hurricane” reaching 1 million across all platforms, has proven that Shanuka effortlessly has the power to touch her audience.

Her bread and butter is r&b, but you haven’t experienced it quite like this before. Her vocals, while confident and powerful, feel like honey as they deliver her profound self-written lyrics. Hypnotic and alluring, her voice creates an atmosphere that keeps you transfixed and likely induces a few goosebumps. Her soulful vibe is one she feels through every melody, like she says “In my world my angels cultivate”.
